It became immediately evident at last night’s John Waite show, his second of two nights at The Iridium, that his heartfelt lyrics and sincere delivery has been underappreciated by the masses for a long time. These are the qualities that make his work stand out head and shoulders above many of his 80s and 90s contemporaries.

In my opinion, no band should ever consider doing cover versions of previous hit songs unless they’re going to do something unique and memorable with them and ensure the listener can escape the memory engrained by the original version. This is the craft that Vanilla Fudge has perfected better than anyone else!

In a short span of a couple of years Vanilla Fudge perfected an epic and thunderous sound and laid the foundation for the further development of Heavy Metal! Their embellished and expanded versions of late 60’s pop hits were and still are a breath of fresh air!

To some out of towners it might look like Halloween in NYC everyday. But, as we know, Halloween in NYC (and every other holiday) exceeds expectations every year! The audience at last night’s Halloween show by The Tubes at The Iridium (51st and Broadway) ensured the holiday was adequately represented as they dressed up for a great time and to celebrate one of their favorite bands.

Pop International specializes in Pop Art, Urban Art and art and photography that is derived from, or influenced by, popular culture.

When I first saw the track list for Bernard Fowler’s new album, Inside Out, I was intrigued. The album is made up of eight songs by The Rolling Stones, but the tunes he chose to cover are far from the Stones' most well known.
