Judy Garland - Two Unique Birthday Celebrations

Colleen McHugh
"Friend of Dorothy: The Songs of Judy Garland"
The Duplex Cabaret
61 Christopher Street
Sunday June 23 & Tuesday June 25

Natalie Douglas
"Judy"
Birdland
315 West 44th St
Monday June 24

It's fortunate for believers in Judy-ism that Garland the great was born and died, an all-too-short 47 years later, in the same month. This makes June the perfect month to celebrate her amazing life and legacy - especially this year, which marks a half century since her passing. This year two outstanding, irreplaceable singer-shpieler-entertainers will put their personal spin on Garland's incredible songbook. Colleen McHugh (with musical director Tedd Firth) and Natalie Douglas (with MD Mark Harmon) don't sound anything like Garland herself - or, for that matter, like each other, but they both are commanding stylists who know how to catch an audience's attention and hold onto it - and they both are funny, funny, funny, in addition to being top tier vocal artists. Give thanks to whichever God that you believe exists Over the Rainbow that they're doing their tribute shows on different, non-conflicting nights.
