Lisa Maxwell’s "Shiny!" - A Tribute to Lew Soloff
The Cutting Room
44 E 32nd St
Monday, May 27, 7:30

For over 30 years, Lew Soloff (1944-2015) was one of the top studio musicians in New York, a trumpet player whose impeccable, classically-trained technique empowered him to be at once a major jazz musician, as well as the first-call trumpeter for any rock band with a brass section (most famously Blood, Sweat, & Tears). The love and respect which other musicians felt for the late Lew is herewith channelled by his friend, the arranger and composer Lisa Maxwell, who has assembled a program of her original music, including many pieces directly inspired by him, and by the stellar orchestra that she has assembled to perform it. The concert is a record release event for a new album, titled, Shiny, most of the players of which will be present on Monday evening, including Randy Brecker, Will Lee, Paul Shaffer, Mike Stern, Lou Marini, Mark Egan, Danny Gottlieb, Tom Malone, Ada Rovatti, Lawrence Feldman, Roger Rosenberg, Kenya Hathaway, Steven Wolf, Dave Taylor, David Mann, Pete Levin, Oz Noy, Ben Perowsky, Andy Ezrin, Alex Foster, Carmen Staaf, Dan Levine, Leni Stern, Smokey Hormel, David Delhomme, John Clark, Chris Rogers, Claire Daly, Tony Kadleck, Michael Davis, Wayne Du Maine, Daniel Sadownick, Bryan Davis, David Finck and Mocean Worker.
