Revelry at Symphony Space - The Avalon Jazz Band & Blind Boy Paxton

Oct 16, 2018

“Revelry” at Symphony Space
Tatiana Eva Marie & the Avalon Jazz Band (Thursday, October 18)
Blind Boy Paxton (Thursday, October 25)
Symphony Space (Leonard Nimoy Thalia)
2537 Broadway
Thursdays (ongoing)

Kudos to this storied upper west side performing arts center (which, since almost the start of the millennium, has been a multiplex) for launching what promises to be a fun-filled Thursday evening series, directly inspired by the New York Hot Jazz Festival. This week, the vivacious and inventive vocalist Tatiana Eva Marie leads her string-centric Avalon Jazz Band through a program of standards both fresh and familiar with a decidedly French and Romany-twist. Next Thursday, the brilliant young blues-songster, multi-instrumentalist Jeron “Blind Boy” Paxton entertains, drawing on a staggeringly diverse repertory that encompasses everything from Leadbelly to Tiny Tim.
