Since 1902, the Washington Square Hotel (formerly “The Earle”) has been a haven for writers, artists and musicians. Just let these names sink in for a minute: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Bo Diddley, Maynard Ferguson, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, Ernest Hemingway and Dylan Thomas. Yes, all of these greats— and more—have been guests at this iconic Greenwich Village landmark.

The Village NYC Things to Do

So it comes as no surprise that the hotel wants to build upon its rich history by launching a monthly salon series. Village Nights will be curated and hosted by musician, producer, author, legendary frontman for The Bongos and longtime Villager Richard Barone.

“Greenwich Village’s longstanding legacy as a center of cultural revolution and a haven for self-expression has always been best expressed through its nightlife. This freewheeling musical salon series celebrates the Village’s folk, jazz, and spoken-word heritage in a uniquely historic setting and offers a great night out!” says Barone.

The series premiered on Sunday, March 18th 2018 with the renowned composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist David Amram, and will be followed by modern folk artists The Kennedys on Sunday, April 8th and Ben Allison & The Easy Way jazz trio on Sunday, May 6th.
