The Met Breuer represents a cutting edge home of crafts that gives classical pieces a chance to connect and reflect on the future. Celebration of art and its creators has accelerated past time and measure and in this building it is acknowledged and recognized as such.

Current Exhibits at The Met Breuer

Currently there are several exhibitions in progress at The Met Breuer, including Provocations by Anselm Kiefer; Edvard Munch: Between the Clock and the Bed; and Delerious: Art at the Limits of Reason 1950-1980. Of course, any time you visit, the exhibits are guaranteed to astound and even the building itself is an attraction. Designed by Hungarian architect Marcel Breuer and located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the exterior of the mueseum is absolutely breathtaking.

Edvard Munch at The Met Breuer

Among them, visitors are able to see the incredible painter, Edvard Munch: Between the Clock and the Bed, whose work is reflected in deep psychological phases, a lot of them his very own. Munch attained fame early in his career for his depictions of human anxiety. Throughout his career, Munch regularly revisited subjects from his earlier years, exploring them with renewed inspiration and intensity over time. Self-Portrait: Between the Clock and the Bed (1940–43) was one of his final such works and it serves as a lens to reassess Munch's oeuvre.

Deeply moving self portraits, which show all different stages of one’s personality, traveling through tunnels of emotions and variety of feelings take every visitor on this far away journey. The way Munch relates to death and its incurable, cold simplicity is astonishing. The way he represents love and the complete immersion of souls while experiencing addiction and sadness are something that reappear in a curious continuity throughout the pieces.

This exhibition features 43 of the artist's landmark compositions created over a span of six decades, including 16 self-portraits and works that have never before been seen in the United States. More than half of the works on view were part of Munch's personal collection and remained with him throughout his life.

His ‘Scream Series’ are incredibly well punctuated, giving a modern representation of an epic story. Munch’s work is something that definitely needs to be experienced and there is no better place for that than the Breuer.

Met Breuer Restaurant: Flora Bar Review

As an added bonus, beneath the ground floor The Breuer has created a perfect place for reflecting on the artwork at The Flora Bar. Wide space, high ceilings and wonderful views of the outside garden provide a very European feel. It is just the right setting for work, contemplation or generating ideas, and is a unique experience of its own. You can have dinner, a snack or just drinks!

The Met Breuer is special, not only for what it stands for, but the way it is accessible to everyone who is looking to broaden their horizons by interpreting art while looking into the past, present and future all at once.
