Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Season NYC Fashion Week
Evening wear designer Carmen Marc Valvo started his show by filling the National Geographic room with smoke, creating a eery vibe for his RTW FW to walk through. The room was dimly lit to add to the mood, as a sea of red, black and rich blue garments made their way down the runway. Leanne Marshall continued her streak of beautifully curated shows. She had a runway full of color with models of all shapes and hues. I was enamored form start to finish. The co-ed show of Malan Breton showcased some amazing menswear, evening gowns and ladies suiting. The patterned suits for women really caught my eye.
Emerging designers Jxy n' Cuso's collection was perfect for any strong yet feminine woman. With its mix of soft yet edgy pieces, from slip dresses to leather fringe coats, This collection definitely needs to be in my closet. The retro inspired FW 18 collection from Chiara Boni La Petite Robe had me in awe from the first look. The silhouettes were impeccable and the fascinators went perfectly with each paired outfit. If I wasn't already in love with vintage fashion I would have been after seeing this collection. The fun and whimsical collection of Heaven Please+ offered bright colors, patterns and oversized silhouettes. I had the chance to see this collection up close backstage and the fabrics and finishing were amazing. It's definitely not for the everyday but I do want to have a few pieces in my closet.
NYC Fashion Week Designers
Zimmermann showcased a very vintage western vibe on their runway this season with lots of floral and leather mixed with feminine silhouettes and soft fabrics. Zimmermann never disappoints with their attention to detail from knitted ruffles to mixing prints like no other. Last but not least, one of my favorite designers, Christian Siriano. Siriano have an amazing show season after season, this season was no exception. He opened the show with supermodel Ashley Graham, which set the tone for the show filled with models of color and models of all different sizes. This collection featured furs to flowy silhouettes in rich reds, black and metallics. I can't wait to get my hands on a piece from his collection. Helen Anthony wowed with a runway filled with a colorful menswear inspired collection for men and women. There was a mix of plaids, florals and a beautiful array of prints from India. His designs are for the one who’s looking to make a statement and look extremely polished while doing it. I see a few pieces that I must have in my closet sooner rather than later.
It's crazy to say in February, "But I can't wait for the fall when all these pieces will hit the stores." By then, we will be heading into a new NYFW season and I'll be saying the same thing about spring. Until then, I look forward to this warmer weather that is on the horizon and wearing the clothes from last fashion week. See you in September!
